Nearly 1000 youth and young professionals will explore the theme Our World. Our Water.
The Ignite Change Now! Global Youth Assembly (GYA) 2011, is expected to attract and unite hundreds of youth and young professionals from all backgrounds and inspire them to turn ripples into waves as they explore the theme OUR WORLD. OUR WATER.
Water is the source of all life and the source of inspiration for the GYA 2011. It doesn’t matter what your interests and passions are, who you are, where you live, or how you live. Water concerns you.
Have you ever thought about the connection between water and peace, water and racism, water and economics, water and architecture, water and development, water and indigenous rights?
Think about:
Water and Poverty: Almost 2 in 3 people lacking access to clean water survive on less than $2/day; 1 in 3 people survive on less than $1/day.
Water and Production: It takes 3,800 litres to make 1 litre of orange juice.
Water and Indigenous Rights: Over 100 Aboriginal communities in Canada have to boil their water.
Water and Education: 443 million school days are lost each year because children have to look for water instead of going to school.
Through art, music, and other media, the GYA will expose water as a critical issue for everyone, everywhere.
Be there July 27 – 30, 2011 (Edmonton, Canada). Together, we will Ignite Change Now!
